What We Collect and Why
Contact Form
When you use the contact form at britepear.com/contact.html, you submit: your first name, optional last name, email address, a topic category, and your message. You may optionally check a box to subscribe to the newsletter. This data is transmitted to Formspree (formspree.io), our form processing service, which delivers it to us by email. We do not store contact form submissions in a database.
Newsletter Signup
When you subscribe to the BritePear newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this address to send editorial communications including research updates, new BriteBrief articles, and notes from Cliff Johnson. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.
Affiliate Link Clicks
BritePear participates in the Amazon Associates program and may participate in other affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link, the third-party platform (e.g., Amazon) may set cookies and track your interaction for the purpose of crediting any resulting commission to BritePear. BritePear does not receive or store your personal data from these interactions. Amazon's data practices are governed by Amazon's own privacy policy.
Server Logs
Like most websites, britepear.com is hosted on a web server (InterServer) that automatically logs basic request information including IP addresses, browser types, referring URLs, and pages visited. These logs are used for site maintenance and security purposes. They are not used to identify individual visitors for marketing purposes.
What We Do Not Collect
BritePear does not use advertising tracking pixels, third-party marketing cookies, behavioral targeting systems, social media trackers, or fingerprinting technologies. BritePear does not collect payment information — there is no purchasing mechanism on this site. BritePear does not create user accounts and does not collect health information about you.
